A local business is hoping to bring joy to families in need by donating gifts and cash to the BDT Christmas Appeal.

The Broken Hill Community Credit Union has 26 employees and each of them donated a present to the appeal.

BHCCU's Assistant General Manager, Louise Hunt, said she told the employees that if they each donated a present, then the Credit Union would donate $150 as well.

"Every single staff member made a donation," Mrs Hunt said. She said they were "primarily toys and things that could be given as a present." "We spread it around a bit," Mrs Hunt said.

The Credit Union normally has a donations table but this year they thought it would be good to donate to the BDT.

Operations Manager Ann Grose said it was a challenge for each staff member to find a present but that they enjoyed doing it.

The BDT's Christmas Appeal started on November 15 and will run until December 10.

Everyone is invited to come to the BDT office and leave gifts, toys and non-perishable food for local charities to distribute.
