PLEASE GIVE: Nahla Sparrow (17 months) has heart disease and her mother Tamica is asking people to support a fundraising auction on Friday night.

An auction is being held on Friday to raise money for a baby girl who was recently diagnosed with heart disease.

Nahla Sparrow has dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a condition where the heart becomes weakened and enlarged and cannot pump blood effectively.

The 17-month-old was diagnosed with the disease two weeks before Christmas.

Her mother, Tamica, said Nahla was on long term medication and they travel to Adelaide every fortnight for check-ups and blood tests.

It is quite expensive, so friends of Tamica’s have arranged the auction at the Democratic Club to help raise money for them.

“All the money raised will go straight to helping pay for travel and food expenses plus any medication Nahla needs,” Tamica said.

She said the medication takes a while to work and if it doesn’t help they will have to look at other options.

But Tamica said Nahla was still happy and enjoys playing.

“To look at her you wouldn’t think there was anything wrong with her,” she said.

Some of the items for auction, kindly donated by businesses around town, include photo shoots, outdoor furniture, dinner vouchers, hairdressing vouchers, Avon packages, drink packages, eskies, sporting memorabilia, handmade kids’ clothes, kiddies packages, food packages and more.

The auction will start at 7.30pm after the club’s meat draw.

Tamica thanked everyone who had helped and the Democratic Club for hosting the event.
