Golfing trio Linda Nadge, Jacqueline Walter and Gaynor Holliday will be in esteemed company this week when they tee off in the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Pro-Am.

The event that starts at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club today lets three amateur players team up with a professional.

The local players were originally slated to team up with America’s Brittany Lang but have since been partnered with Japan’s Haru Nomura.

Nomura is one Japan’s most promising young golfers, having won her country’s Junior Championship in 2007 and competed in the 2011 Women’s US Open.

Ms Holliday said the Pro Am would provide a unique and enjoyable experience.

“It will be a great opportunity to play with all these top pro golfers. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for us really,” she said.

“I’m pretty relaxed about the whole thing at the moment, but it might be a bit different when I have to tee off on Wednesday.

“But it will be good to rub shoulders with all these people. It’s all pretty exciting.”

The Pro-Am will be followed by the Women’s Australian Open where Jacqueline will take part in a series of coaching clinics hosted by America’s Alexis Thompson and top Australian golfer Karrie Webb.

Jacqueline recently showed her skills on the big stage by helping a combined South Australian team topple Victoria at the girls Cudmore Cheney Challenge in Warrnambool.

The 16-year-old teamed with SA’s Zoe Taylor in the foursomes category and recorded a narrow loss to Victorians Jaydon Vaenuku and Olivia Lewis.

She then bounced back well in the singles, registering a good win over Stephanie Bunque.
