Girls hope to be face of Dodo

ASPIRING MODELS: Samara Pagano wants to be the Dodo Girl and needs your votes to win.
Two local girls are entering a competition that could lead them to a place in the Miss Universe Australia National Final.
Samara Pagano and Lisa Kickett are in the running to become the “Dodo Girl” of 2012.
Dodo is a telecommunications company and it holds the competition to find “the face” for its commercials.
The winner receives $50,000 in cash and prizes, the title of 2012 Dodo Girl and a place in the Miss Universe Australia National Final.
The competition began in August and ends on March 31.
Samara said she and Lisa were being managed by the BH talent agency Protalent which had invited them to join the competition.
The girls had entered late and are asking BH people to vote for them so that they can catch up to the other entrants.
“You just go to the website www.dodogirlvoting.dodo.com.au and register to vote, then just type in the model’s name, go to the profile and click on ‘vote for me’,” Samara said.
“If you feel the need, jump on and support Lisa and I.”
Samara said she was studying to be a journalist but would like to model as well, although modelling was no cushy job.
“There is definitely work involved and it is not as glamorous as people think,” she said.
Winning the Dodo competition would give a great boost to the girls’ aspirations.
“It would be a fabulous opportunity. You will represent one of Australia’s biggest telecommunications companies. That is pretty big,” Samara said.
Having an agency like Protalent here was also a good thing, she said, because the manager, Sloane Howard, was attracting talent agents to the city.
“Sloane takes personal attention to what you would be best at, not just modelling, but if you are for high fashion or commercial,” Samara said.
“I would encourage anyone who thinks they have talent to get in touch with Protalent. It is a great opportunity and is great if kids get involved in that sort of stuff, like acting and singing.”
