Fast track will make for a great night

OPPORTUNITY: Junior stock car racer Kayla Tumes will face off against racers from Mildura at the speedway tonight.

Speedway revs up for its second meeting of the year tonight with a solid program of racing.

Racers will compete in sidecars, stock cars and junior stocks, while the Moto-X Mayhem bikes will also take to the track.

BH Speedway Club Secretary Dion Coulls said racing would be even better than last month’s meeting, with recent light rain helping to ensure the track is in pristine condition.

“The first night this year we got off to a bit of a slow start because there was a bit too much water on the track,” he said.

“But this week it’s looking like a good track - a fast track - and we should get away on time.”

Mr Coulls said a number of Mildura competitors have travelled to the city for the meeting, ensuring plenty of competitive racing.

“It should be a great night out and provide plenty of entertainment,” he said.

Mr Coulls said Mildura would be particularly well represented in the junior stocks event, giving local junior racer Kayla Tumes an ideal chance to test her skills.

Gates open at the speedway at 6pm, with racing to commence at sundown.

Admission is $15 adults, $10 children, and $40 for a family. Children under 5 are admitted free.

Full bar and canteen facilities will be available.
