The Pink Ribbon Morning Tea held at the Barrier Daily Truth yesterday was an outstanding success that left organisers tickled pink.

BDT Advertising Representative, Samantha Matten, hosted the morning tea and she and the BDT's front office staff baked the cakes and pastries to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The newspaper usually holds its own morning tea for the event but this year Samantha had the idea of raising more money by opening it up to the public.

"The day was fantastic," she said. "My goal was to raise $500 and we ended up raising $684.

"We set up at 9am and people were buying bits and pieces. When we actually opened it at 10.30am the whole place was full.

"With previous morning teas I've held, people have always been generous but this morning tea exceed expectations.

"We completely sold out of everything."

Samantha thanked everyone for supporting the day and Foodland for donating the tea and coffee.

The money raised will now be given to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
