Hockey players are being encouraged to show their support for the sport online, with the Broken Hill Hockey Association warning that the competition is on the brink of permanent collapse.

Due to a dismal turnout at the Association’s recent AGM, organisers fear that the sport may not be going ahead for the 2012 season. 

If there is no competition for 2012, it is likely that Hockey will not be played in the city again.

Sprint car racing combines powerful motors with a light chassis to provide thrilling, high-speed events.

The sport is so intense that many American drivers use it as preparation for their IndyCar and NASCAR careers.

Park gets new equipment

Local families can now have hours of fun with the refurbishment of the North Family Play Centre Park.

The revitalisation of the park has seen a number of new pieces of play equipment installed.

Council has set up the Konnecta, Star Surfer, Rock-it and the Bird’s Nest swing to complement the family-friendly precinct that incorporates the Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre.
