Council candidate, Larry Angell, has one answer for anyone who accuses him of trying to tap into to the "South vote".

"Come out here, you'll love it - it's the best part of town," Mr Angell said.

Mr Angell and fellow Black independent ticket member, Carol Rowlands, have declared they will "stand up for South residents" in the upcoming City Council elections.

The order in which Councillor and Mayoral candidates will appear on the ballot sheet was determined yesterday, with John Groenendijk drawing last spot on both.

Councillor Groenendijk - who drew top spot for the Mayoral ballot in the 2009 election - said he did not think being last would hinder his chances.

"I'm actually quite happy about where I am," he said.

Mayor Wincen Cuy has announced he will be running for Mayor again, as nominations close for the council elections.

Mayor Cuy yesterday said that he would be standing alone on his ticket.

"I am nominating as mayor," he said. "I am taking the same stance I took in the last election."

Councillor John Groenendijk, who until now had remained quiet about his plans, confirmed yesterday that he was in the running.
