Beware the sleeping dog
Saturday, 25th February, 2012
GAME ON: North will be hoping for some big innings from its top order batsmen including the in-form Tobias Hack.
Central, on face value, look to be warm favourites to advance to the Barrier District Cricket League Final after today’s Elimination Final at the Alma Oval.
But this season’s form line could prove to be a little misleading as North has not fielded its best complement of players on too many occasions and on most occasions when that they have met the Magpies they have been well under full strength.
With so much at stake North appears to have named one of its best sides for the season today.

PLACEMENT: North’s Mick Moritz slashes a shot through the off side.
Central’s batsmen have bounced back from last week’s defeat to guide their team to a five-wicket win against North.
The Bulldogs opted to bat first on the Jubilee Oval wicket but struggled to make an impact on the scoreboard as the Magpies’ bowlers held sway.
Openers Scott Rogers and Ben Victory defended their wickets grimly before Jarred Paull had Rogers caught behind after scoring one run from 46 balls.

LEADER: Respected Central midfielder Justin Heath will combine coaching and playing in 2012 for the Magpies.

Already renowned for his leadership at the Central Football Club, 200-gamer Justin Heath has upped the ante by taking on the coaching duties for the Magpies in 2012 as well.
Heath, 27, will chart a “new direction” for the Magpies, who are desperate to atone for their disappointing 2011 when they missed the finals after claiming the premiership just 12 months prior.
“The club is really looking forward to bouncing back and with Justin we believe we have the right man for the job,” outgoing CFC Vice-President Garry Sandy said.
