Not only did the Broken Hill horse trainers leave Saturday's annual Pooncarie Cup races empty handed, but they are now likely to face the same tough opposition at the October 27 Silver City Cup meeting on their home track.

Respected Victorian country trainer Brett Charry confirmed that his dominant Pooncarie Cup winner Bullioh would be nominated for the Silver City Cup, while veteran Mildura trainers John Castleman and Ray Gard are also keen to back up their Pooncarie winners in BH in less than four
weeks.

This year's Silver City Cup horse racing meeting is just nine weeks away and the generosity of BH artist Howard Steer will help promote the event as the city's family race day.

Mr Steer, who is well known for his fundraising efforts for a number of charities including the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Make a Wish and The Kidney Foundation, has provided the official artwork for the 2012 Silver City Cup.

"Howard has done a brilliant job capturing the family day focus of our event," Silver City Cup Secretary-Manager Kylie Casey said.

Tonight’s racing will be dominated by the fairer sex, either by drivers or horses.

Another good program of racing will launch the beginning of the second half of the season with plenty of good racing to come in the Maltese Cup, Sew Eurodrive Mile and our TAB meeting on March 16.
