 We’re in for sweet relief from the heat this week, according to weather forecasters.

With the gauge topping 40 plus in Broken Hill yesterday, the temperature is expected to be a much more courteous 35 degrees today.

Broken Hill can even expect showers and an almost chilly 27 degrees next Monday.

SCC happy to withdraw proposal

 If Council is unhappy with Southern Cross Care’s (SCC) proposal to build a new aged care facility they are more than welcome to build it themselves, according to SCC CEO Allan Carter.

Mr Carter’s comments come after Councillor Tom Kennedy accused SCC of pressuring Council into a decision regarding the creation of a new 60-bed aged care facility at the former Alma Pool site.

SCC had proposed to construct the facility if it could take over Council’s 40 aged care licences currently utilised by Shorty O’Neil Village, and successfully lobby the government for an additional 20 aged care beds.
