Central, on face value, look to be warm favourites to advance to the Barrier District Cricket League Final after today’s Elimination Final at the Alma Oval.

But this season’s form line could prove to be a little misleading as North has not fielded its best complement of players on too many occasions and on most occasions when that they have met the Magpies they have been well under full strength. 

With so much at stake North appears to have named one of its best sides for the season today.

Central’s batsmen have bounced back from last week’s defeat to guide their team to a five-wicket win against North.

The Bulldogs opted to bat first on the Jubilee Oval wicket but struggled to make an impact on the scoreboard as the Magpies’ bowlers held sway.

Openers Scott Rogers and Ben Victory defended their wickets grimly before Jarred Paull had Rogers caught behind after scoring one run from 46 balls.

The North Football Club has found leadership amongst its younger ranks after appointing Ben Victory as club president.

The 33-year-old will be joined at board level by Justin Hoskins, 22, who will take on the role of Vice President.

Although Victory is relatively young for the top job, he looms as an ideal fit for the position.

David Ruddock may not have been completely ready to give up North’s top coaching role, but he has certainly gone out on a high.

Work commitments have forced the Bulldogs’ stalwart to step down from coaching the club’s League side after what can only be described as a stellar year.
