Prospectors seek a golden summer

GOLD COUNTRY: Prospectors are making an unseasonal appearance in the hot streets of Tibooburra after the recent heavy rain.

Festive fossickers are enduring peak heat in Tibooburra to search for gold.
While the traditional gold season usually spans from March to September/October, publican at Toole’s Family Hotel, Kathy Toole, confirmed that the rumours of hardy summer prospectors in Corner Country were correct.
“We’ve had quite a few prospectors from Victoria and Queensland in. It’s totally out of season, but they seem to be coping with the heat OK,” she said.
