St Josephs has claimed victory in all three junior Grand Finals played over the weekend, winning the under 14, under 12 and Colts divisions.

In the under 12 Grand Final, St Josephs had their most convincing win of the three finals - 5 goals to nil.

Familiar foes, St Josephs and Celtic, will meet twice tonight, in the title deciding matches for the Colts and under 14 soccer grades at the O'Neill Park Soccer Complex.

On what is predicted to be a cold evening, a large crowd is expected to turn out for their clubs' final games of the year.

The evening will commence with the under 14 Grand Final, which will get underway at 6pm.

The players in this week's junior soccer Grand Finals will be pleased to be involved in the last game of the year, as will two referees who have had a breakout season with the whistle.

Allessando Licul and Mackenzie Symes will be involved as sideline referees, in what will be their first time umpiring in finals at that level.

This season, both young refs have advanced from being a 'game leader', where they assist very young soccer players learning the rules of the game, to taking charge of games involving higher age groups where they take on traditional refereeing duties.

West kicked up their heels with a 11-0 thrashing of Alma. West kicked up their heels with a 11-0 thrashing of Alma.

The Alma Goats were pummelled in their quest to wrestle top spot off West at the O’Neil Soccer Complex on Sunday.

Pummelled, thrashed, annihilated... there are so many adjectives to describe West’s 11-0 victory over their closest challengers.

The bookies have closed bets on West winning the premiership this season as it looks a foregone conclusion already after only five rounds. 

Alma have been knocking on the door this season, but on Sunday they found out how hard it is to open that door when West are in full flight.

The West Panthers have put their stamp on local soccer after just four rounds after defeating St Joseph’s 3-0 on Sunday.

The dominant men’s team of the last dozen seasons look on track to add another premiership trophy to their already-bulging trophy cabinet. 

George Bugeja once again has shown what a master coach he is blending new and young players with the established first graders in forming a formidable squad.
