Cheryl Barry has been crowned the 2012 Zinc Bowling Club ladies singles champion after defeating Jenny Garner in yesterday's Grand Final.

It is the second time that Cheryl has claimed the title, after also winning in 2010.

Two cricketers from New Zealand have joined the steady stream of Rotarians coming through Broken Hill on their way to Cawkers Well for this weekend's cricket matches.

John Dean from Wellington and Gary Masters from Christchurch will join cricketers from India and every state and territory in Australia at the station.

Jarred Paull put on a batting master class on the weekend, scoring 164 not out, to take his season average to a remarkable 290.

The weekend's score follows a score of 39 in the season opening Twenty20 match against West, as well as knocks of 41 not out and 46 not out against North and West more recently.

Heath was informed on Sunday of his successful application for reappointment following his return from a holiday.

Jockey Chenelle Ellis stole the show at Saturday's Silver City Cup, riding her first winner and then following it up with a win in the 1600 metre feature event to claim a double in just her third ever race meeting.

Ms Ellis' day began with a sixth placing in the Maiden Plate aboard the Allan Jarvis-trained Run for Cash before breaking through in race five on Bullydozer.
