A Silver City Cinema development application has been approved giving the cinema an early Christmas present.
The cinema is planning to expand and develop the complex, and Council approved the DA last week.
Ashton said he was shocked how quickly it was approved.
“I thought we would be in for a long wait.
“We just left it up to our architects.”
Ashton said the next step was for the architect to develop the construction plans.
“I would like to thank Council and their planners for their fast, efficient work.
“It’s a nice little Christmas gift for us.”
He said the project will go ahead in two to three stages with the first stage creating an 80-seat theatre and a 20 seat theatre.
“After that, we will see how the situation is in a year or so and then start the next stage.
“Our architects are really fast, so I think all of those plans will be drawn up quickly.
“I would also like to give a big thank you to Broken Hill.”
CPM Construction Mildura will be handling the building, they will be sub-contracting local tradesmen to help with the build.
GSD Architects Mildura have provided the expertise for our cinema designs with drawn-up plans for the huge revamp.
As well as multiple cinemas there will be disabled access, toilets up and downstairs and ramps.
