The Regional Art Gallery Advisory Committee has voted to support renaming the airport road “Pro Hart Way”.

The idea was proposed by local Annette Northey who won the backing of the Hart family and the Regional Art Gallery Advisory Committee.

Chair of the Advisory Committee Maureen Clark said the decision to support the name change was passed unanimously at their meeting and Ms Northey’s proposal has been forwarded to City Council.

It will now go to the Asset Naming Committee of Council and then the NSW Geographical Names Board which will check that no government regulations were violated or residential postal addresses affected.

Ms Clark thanked Ms Northey for her “rolling up her sleeves to do something about it”.

In July, the BDT received an overwhelming “yes” from the public after asking readers whether a street should be named in honour of Pro Hart.
