A host of local tennis players will take part in the annual Red Cliffs Lawn Tennis Club tournament this weekend.

This year’s event marks the 58th running of the tournament and celebrates 83 years of tennis in Red Cliffs.

It is traditionally held over the Australia Day weekend but was postponed due to the high temperatures.

Broken Hill will send a strong contingent of players to compete including three-time local men’s singles champ Patrick Reincke, 2018 men’s singles champion Ross Casey and multiple runner-up Nathan Crabb.

Others making the trip include A Grade players Matt Handberg, Corey Pascoe, Hamish McLean, Hamish Inglis and Andrew Molloy as well as veterans Karl Fritsch, Tim O’Neil, Trevor Grillett and Jack Woods.

Juniors Mackenzie and Josh Niaross will also make their first appearance at the tournament.

The event takes place over three days with the twilight doubles for teams with a combined age of 60 and over on the Friday night, singles and doubles on Saturday and mixed doubles on Sunday.

The Saturday singles and doubles are made up of championship, A Grade and B Grade divisions.
