Shoes, gowns jewellery and more - the Compass Housing team are after donations for this year’s NAIDOC Ball.
The NAIDOC Ball is being held for the first time in many years in Broken Hill and Compass Housing wants to make sure everyone has the chance to attend.
Compass’ Community Participation and Tenant Engagement Officer and member of the NAIDOC Ball Committee, Tammy Fleming, said they would like to see as many people there as possible.
“I think this is a great opportunity for community and services to come together as one to celebrate this glamorous and purposeful event,” said Tammy.
“Broken Hill hasn’t had a NAIDOC Ball for several years now so we are hoping to make this one bigger, better and less costly for the less fortunate.
“Compass Housing has decided to jump on board for the 2019 NAIDOC Ball. We know with huge events like this it can become quite costly for ladies and gentlemen to be able to afford gowns, heels, suits and shoes, let alone the cost of the ticket,” said Tammy.
“With added expenses of hair and make-up for the ladies, it can become financially overwhelming.”
Donations of ball gowns, high heels, jewellery and bags for the women may be taken to the Compass Housing office at 32 Sulphide Street between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday (except Tuesdays which they close at 2.30pm).
The donations will be taken to the 123 Hub and will be put on display in a private room with a full length mirror for the ladies to try them on.
To donate or for more information contact Tammy on 1300 333 733 or via email, firstname.lastname@example.org
Lifeline had also jumped on board and will be collecting donations of suits and shoes for the men. To donate or to try on the suits contact Taunoa Bugmy on 8087 9109.
