Firefighter Cohen Turner has been selected to appear in the 2020 Australian Firefighters Calendar.
The calendar was first published in 1993 to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation and raise money for research into childhood burns.
Since then it has raised more than $3 million for various charities.
Earlier this year Cohen travelled to Queensland for the photoshoot which involved open flames, horses, cat scratches and more but it paid off when his photos were selected for not one but three calendars.
There are six firefighter calendars: classic, wildlife, cat, horse, farm animal and dog, and Cohen appears in the cat, farm animal and classic.
The director of the Australian Firefighters Calendar, David Rogers, spoke highly of Cohen and described him as a very good subject.
“Cohen was exactly what we were looking for; he’s the definition of a humble hero,” said Mr Rogers.
“He did such a good job, he came in with the right attitude and he is going to be a part of this for a very long time, I guarantee it.”
Later this year a fundraising event will be held in Broken Hill to sell the calendars to raise money for our local charities. The new calendars are already on sale and can be purchased from the website, australianfirefighterscalendar.com
