At 11am today several services will host an ‘R U OK?’ day event in the Town Square.

Everyone is invited to come along to the event and enjoy a free barbecue, speak with local service providers, and find out more about how they can ask people around them ‘R U OK?’

Mission Australia Program Manager, Jenna Bottrell, said the day was a national day of action to remind people to check in and support those they know who may be struggling with life.

“We can all make a difference to someone who is having a tough time by having regular, meaningful conversations about life’s ups and downs,” Ms Bottrell said.

“Today’s event will be a great opportunity for Broken Hill residents to drop in, chat with local service providers and find out more about how they can start an ‘R U OK?’ conversation with people in their lives.”

The event will run until 2pm and will have service information stalls from Mission Australia, Catholic Care, Far West Local Health District, Headspace, Compass Housing, Maari Ma Primary Health, the Flying Doctor Service and ACON.
