The Barrier Daily Truth storm photo competition has a winner.
Locals have enjoyed capturing shots of the wild weather around the district and the BDT has taken pleasure in presenting their work to the public. The storm photo competition began on February 10 and more than 200 entries were received.
The three local judges had a difficult task in narrowing it down to the top 20. Voting by BDT readers followed and again there were hundreds of ballots cast over the following few weeks.
The winner was Geraldine Casey with her photo entitled "Taken at the Silverton Souvenir Shop". Mrs Casey was surprised to find out she had won because, she said, there were "so many fantastic photos". She said she likes taking photographs and spends a lot of time in Silverton.
It was there she saw the dust storm and quickly grabbed the shot. "I thought 'Wow, look at that," she said. "I just put it (the photo) in for the hell of it," she said. "I was stoked I got in the top 20." Mark Pascoe won second prize and third prize went to Ernie Parker.
