This year Impact Gym has come on board to support the month and help paint the town pink.

The Broken Hill Breast Cancer Support Group (BHBCSG) fundraising committee has prepared for their busiest month and are looking forward to “Paint Our Town Pink”.

The committee and volunteers have been meeting on a regular basis since March to make rosettes.

“Pink October is our main fund raiser for the year,” said spokeswoman Leeann Clogg.

Businesses across town support the month by decorating their shop fronts pink, and locals don pink shirts.

Impact Fitness, in Oxide Street, said they were happy to support Pink October.

Spokeswoman, Rebecca Blundell, said the team was very excited about it.

They are going to decorate the gym and the fitness studio in pink for the month with everyone encouraged to wear their Pink October tops.

The gym will also hold three raffles, valued between $70 and $150 with all money raised being donated to BHBCSG.

“Entry to group fitness classes for the month of October for non-members will be by gold coin donation with all monies raised being donated,” Rebecca said.

“Members will also be encouraged to donate.

“On Saturday, October 19, while classes are running, $1 from each coffee sale through the cafe will go towards the BHBCSG.”

Rebecca said they were approached by Zumba instructor Cindy Knott to host a Pink October.

“She takes the Zumba Gold classes and I think they lost a member last year, so she approached us and we thought it would be a great idea.

“Impact’s heart values are community events like these and ones that raise positive awareness.

“Our classes are predominantly women and it’s important to create awareness about getting health checks.”
