Race meeting a quiet affair for police
Monday, 22nd March, 2010
Local police have expressed their happiness at the behaviour of revelers over the St Pat's weekend. No incidents were recorded in connection with Saturday's St Pat's race meeting. Police kept a high presence on Saturday night at licenced venues around the city, and recorded no trouble. the racecourse was similarly free of incident, police said.
The only occurrence was the discovery of a small amount of amphetamines at a St Pats afterparty at the Entertainment Centre at 12.10am on Sunday. Police were patrolling the premises with a sniffer dog from Sydney when they discovered the drugs, which were found discarded. Investigations into that matter are continuing. A police spokesman said yesterday that he was very happy with the conduct shown by both locals and visitors.
