Sleek Classic a hot tip tonight

The city's top greyhound, Sleek Classic, is odds-on favorite for a sixth straight win at the Newmarket Raceway tonight.

Last year he won 13 races in a row, and a win tonight for the four-yearold would be the 40th of his career.

"He should do well," trainer Tegan Gray told the BDT. "He's drawn out where he likes to be."

Ms Gray has also raced the dog in Adelaide at Angle Park, and in Port Augusta and Barmera and he almost always finishes in a place.

"We take him to Horsham as well," she said. "He's run a few placings there." She bought the dog for $1000 in April last year, and it has well andtruly paid off, bringing home $12,000 in prize money since then.

Sleek Classic was named Greyhound of the Year in 2009, and Tegan Gray won the Leading Owner trainer award.

He won't be the only one of Tegan's dogs racing tonight, with Iceni Archer expected to set the pace.

"He'll be leading, but he won't win. He'll be out in front but that's about it," the trainer said.

The first race starts at 6:55pm
