Shop assistant Nina Cannard has won tickets to a famous American talk show host's show in Sydney next week.

The 27-year-old told the BDT she was "googling" when she stumbled on the Oprah Winfrey website and couldn't believe they were giving away tickets.

She entered the competition and received an e-mail telling her she had won two passes to the show but thought it was joke.

It wasn't until a second reminder e-mail arrived that she knew it was legitimate.

"She's pretty cool," Mrs Cannard told the BDT. "I used to watch it everyday."

She also said her colleagues at Foodland, friends and family were very excited about her win.

"They think it's just one of the best things that could happen," she said.

Oprah Winfrey will film two shows next Tuesday, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Oprah was paid by Tourism Australia to bring her show to the country to give a boost to the tourism industry.

She selected 300 American audience members to accompany her and will take them on tours of various landmarks including the Barossa Valley and the Great Barrier Reef.

Mrs Cannard said her husband, Justin, would accompany her to the show.

"He's hoping Oprah gives away free stuff," she said.

Whilst in Sydney for four days, the couple will visit the Sydney Aquarium and Taronga Zoo.
