Finals, presentations wrap up basketball season

The Broken Hill Basketball Association will end a very successful spring season on Sunday and Monday night with grand finals in all grades.

Twenty-two games will be played at the R K Sanderson Stadium on Sunday with a high level of competition expected.

An important feature of the big day of basketball is the sausage sizzle and presentations for all our under 8 and under 10 players.

The first will be at 11am after the under 8 games with another sausage sizzle and presentation at 1pm for all under 10 teams.

The marquee grand f inal games for the women's and men's A grade will be played at 6pm and 7pm respectively on Sunday evening.

These games have been of a high standard all season. On Monday night, All-Star games will be played with the Women's All Stars at 6pm and the Men's All Stars at 7.30pm. 

The teams will be named in the Barrier Daily Truth with the draw. Presentations will held at 7pm for all awards including the Patrick O'Keeffe and the

Shirley Sanderson trophies for the most valuable players in men's and women's A grade.

In addition the Bob Sanderson Award, the Tatum Whitelaw Award, the Reg Hocking Referees Encouragement Award, the Neil Stubbs Award for service to junior basketball and the Jarvis Semmens Perpetual Award will be presented.

All players should note that all most valuable player awards, for all grades, will also be presented at 7pm on Monday and in addition, Life Membership will be presented to three Association members.

"We would really like to urge members of the public to come along and see some of the best basketballers that Broken Hill has play in these Grand Final games," said Grahame Semmens, president of the Broken Hill Basketball Association.

"We are very proud of the standard of players that we will be playing in these games."
