Titians and Chargers News
The season concluded on Sunday with the local Association holding a Gala Day for the Under 8 and Under 10 teams and grand finals for Under 12 through to the senior grades for men and women.
Unfortunately the Under 8 grade games had to be cancelled due to the power outage but all the boys and girls enjoyed the presentation of trophies and the sausage sizzle.
Titan Flames under 8 boys were well served by Cooper Burke, Tom Burke, Kaleb Philp, Jagan Baxter, Caleb Fenton, Cody Meehan, Adam Slattery and Jakeem O'Donnell all year and will definitely be a strong side again next year.
The Under 8 girls team Chargers Magic proved to be everybody's favorite team with their commitment and persistence despite the odds.
This group of five year olds improved with every game and the character they show speaks volumes for the girls attitude to the game.
Well done to Lauren Slattery, Georgia McConnell, Krystall Lithgow, Ellie Sutton, Shaina Burns, Chloe Burke and Isabella Trengove.
Also in the Under 8 girls Vines Chargers acquitted them self very well all year and are looking forward to promotion to the under 10 grade next year.
All the girls have taken to the game extremely well and a few stars of the future will emerge in the next couple of years.
Madison Vine, Paige Robson, Chloe Berg, Ashlee McConnell, Ava Slattery, Sydney Carter, Justice O'Donnell, Megan Fletcher and Lydia Hinton
Neal are all great kids and I am looking forward to next year as much as they are.
Titans Under 10 boys were the dominant side all year and this team is full of talented and determined players.
Rock solid games by each week by Jack Burke, Preston Slater, Tyler McKenzie, Declan Ferguson and the big improvers Rohan Cutting and Preston Berg complemented playmakers Kingsley Hocking, playing well above his size, and the dynamic Harry Trengove's court coverage and scoring ability.
This side will improve greatly with the added competition in the Under 12 grade next year. Well done boys!
Under 10 Girls South Chargers are another side that improved this season but further improvement will come if all the team members can train regularly.
Kaysha Spencer was the stand out player consistently putting in solid games along with Ellyscia Mackiewicz. Corry-Lee McEvoy, Shakera Edge, Aleks Purcell, Kiara Pressler, Sammarah Edge, Shena'e Benton and Cian Ryan played a good brand of tough basketball and will also benefit in the rise to the under 12 grade next year.
Women's C Grade Premier Chargers joined the competition late but have showed enough to be a threat next year.
Congratulations to Nicole Sinclair on her association Runner Up Best and Fairest award this season. Obviously Nicloe played well and she was wellsupported by Chrissy Slattery, Nikki McKay, Hayley Bastin, Nicky Howell, and Megan Clapshaw.
Women's A Grade Outback Chargers played a great style of basketball all year and played in the preliminary final.
The side took a few weeks to find the form needed to be competitive but this was mainly due to the varying times some of the players had been away from the game.
Six members of the team were selected to play in the Women's All Star game on Monday night and all acquitted themselves well.
They were Teigan Howarth, Cassie Drust, Stacey Ferguson, Christy McManus, Alinta and Kellie Edge.
The remaining team members, Bobbie Slater and juniors Tayla Pettitt and Paige Grose, played well throughout the season and will benefit greatly from the experience gained.
