Chelsea Talbot didn't believe it at first when she was told she had won the Lions Club Christmas car raffle.

The seventeen-yearold won a Hyundai Getz which had been supplied by Far West Auto.

Chelsea, who has had her provisional one licence for just three weeks, bought a ticket in the car raffle with her boyfriend.

She said a work colleague, who was at Centro Westside when the raffle was being drawn, phoned Chelsea to tell her that she had won.

"A work mate rang and told me (I had won) ... I didn't believe them at first then I was pretty excited," Chelsea said.

Chelsea has been driving her dad's car around and is now looking forward to having her own car.

"You won't see me out of it," she said. Lions fundraising coordinator Trevor Odgers said the money raised from the major fundraiser would help the needy.

"The money raised (through the raffle) stays in town and goes to worthy organisations," Mr Odgers said.

Mr Odgers said the Lions Club was happy with the community's response to the raffle. "I would like to thank the public for their support of the Lions Club," he said.

Mr Odgers said this was the 14th carprovided by Far West Auto for the raffle. He encouraged everyone to participate in next year's fundraiser.
