The Broken Hill Greyhound Racing Club ended its season recently with the presentations of trophies for the year.

Greyhound of the Year went to Sleek Classic and trainer Tegan Gray also won the Owner/Trainer award.

Sleek Classic won a number of races throughout the season. A couple of times he put together a string of wins which included a run of five straight towards the end of the season until Croad broke his sequence.

The Craig Thomastrained Croad had many a battle with Sleek Classic, winning almost all of the FFA sprint races for the season.

Croad was just pipped for top dog and was named the runner-up. Second in the Owner/ Trainer award was visitor Clarence Parfrey who scored several wins with his charges Surf Burn, Winnabago, Ima Poor Man and others. 

The local trainer of the year was Peter Hatzi who is part of the Robertson kennel.

Peter had a good end to the season by winning the two main feature events, the Mulga Hill Tavern and Top End Meat Christmas gifts.

His wife Kaylene was the runner-up in this award and had many a winner. All in all the Robertson kennel scored a high percentage of wins over the year and they will be looking to back that up next season.
