Police have rounded up four more suspects in the spate of burglaries over the past month.
One man, two teenage boys and a teenage girl were arrested on Wednesday in Railwaytown where most of the burglaries have been committed. A Cornish Street resident disturbed the four in a neighbour's yard about noon and phoned the police who caught up with them in Burke Street.
The police searched the suspects and allegedly found jewellery and other property that had been reported stolen from a house in Creedon Street about 10am that day. Every room in the house had been ransacked by thieves who had smashed a back window to get in, police said.
The four suspects were arrested and charged with breaking, entering and stealing and a 20-year-old man later faced the Local Court where he was refused bail. The juvenile suspects, the youngest of which was 15, will be brought before the Children's Court.
On Tuesday police charged a 13-year-old boy with burglary after he was caught breaking into a house in Williams Street in the early hours of the morning.
