The Country Energy Swimming SA 2011 Country Championship has been hailed as a success by organisers.
The three-day carnival was held at the Broken Hill Regional Event Centre and wound up yesterday evening.
Local clubs are expected to start submitting their formal results soon. Over 300 swimmers from SA, NSW and Victoria attended the carnival.
Paul DeLisio, a member of the organising committee, said they had all provided positive comments about the event.
"Despite challenging weather Thursday it has picked up and been terrific," he said. "We've had some very fast times recorded and records broken, and the comment was made that we have a very fast pool, which is great."
Thursday's wild weather posed a challenge for some out-of-town clubs when roads were closed.
Some were forced to divert through the Riverina and some swimmers diverted to Adelaide and flew in.
Mr DeLisio praised their commitment and said the locals had also put on a strong show.
"All the city's clubs had good performances from swimmers. A large proportion of them broke best times or medalled in various races. All ofthe locals enjoyed some success," he said.
"Certainly officials and Swimming SA are pleased with the way it's gone."
