Bake sale for Queenslanders
Wednesday, 19th January, 2011
Like all Australians, Woolworths staff have been shocked and saddened by the impact of the Queensland floods.
And to do there bit to help, the local store will aim to raise as much money as they can tomorrow when they hold a cake stall.
The idea, thought up by the staff, will see all money raised from the event matched by the supermarket chain.
"Due to the state of the floods, we'd like to help out in any way we can," store service manager Bill Gebhardt said.
Mr Gebhardt said he knows the stall will be well supported by locals, and agreed that a lot of Broken Hill people enjoyed an old-fashioned bake sale.
The cake stall will start at 9am, and locals are invited to donate cakes, biscuits or slices to the appeal.
Donations can be left at the service desk or brought to the stall tomorrow morning.
