Police moved on about 100 Australia Day revellers from a neighborhood in the city's north on Wednesday night.

Following complaints to police, officers attended a party near the corner of Williams and McCulloch streets about 10.30pm and found about 100 people drinking in the street.

Over the next half an hour police issued move on directions to the partygoers, who were between 18 and 21 years old.

All of them dispersed without incident, said police, who added that residents had reported a large number of smashed bottles.

A couple staying at the Lake View caravan park have been robbed as they slept.

Police said the door to the couple's van was forced open and a handbag stolen overnight on Tuesday.

"It is of a great concern to police that an offence of this nature has occurred, in particular targeting tourists to our town," a spokesman said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 8087 0299 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
