The Broken Hill Swimming Club sent its biggest team in years to the SA State Long Course Swimming Championships held in Adelaide last week.

They sent 15 athletes whom, they said, put in a "fantastic effort" against strong competition.

Not only did the week-long carnival give the swimmers the opportunity to participate in a broad variety of events, they also had time to catch up with friends made at past carnivals.

The talented Amber Grose continued to blossom with an outstanding performance, making the finals in each of her 15 events.

Australian Head Coach Leigh Nugent was at the carnival talking to young swim stars and had a chat to Amber about her achievements and goals.

Amber won bronze medals in 50m fly, 100m fly, 200m IM, and 200m breaststroke.

At an informal team gathering after the carnival, Amber's father Warwick toasted their success and the support and instruction given by the coaching staff at the club and in particular head coach Marisa Webb.

Isabella Morris shone in the backstroke taking a silver medal in the 100m with a seven second personal best time.

She also took the bronze medal in 50m backstroke and gained a bronze in the 100m butterfly.

Isabella also swam in four other finals and was a reserve for her other event.

Benja Mills showed his stamina in taking a silver medal in the 200m butterfly and bronze in the 200m backstroke.

Ben also made finals in five other events and swam personal best (PB) times in all his events.
