A man wanted for assaulting a taxi driver has handed himself in to police.

The 25-year-old local went to the police station yesterday after his photo appeared in Tuesday's BDT.

Police wanted the man for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver last November. 

He has been charged with one count of assault occassioning actual bodily harm and will appear in Local Court on March 1.

 


 

Police say a woman abused them and punched their car in Wilcannia on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old woman allegedly swore and yelled at police before attempting to hit them and throwing a beer can. She then punched the front of their vehicle and tried to damage the radio aerial.

She was taken to the police station and charged with assaulting police, throwing a missile and malicious damage.

She will soon appear in the Wilcannia Local Court.
