Nominations are closing soon for the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards.
The awards are for nurses, midwives, personal care attendants and assistants in nursing.
The HESTA CEO Anne-Marie Corboy said nominations were for nurses who had made a difference.
"Nurses don't go looking for glory. But the role they play in our communities is incredibly important" Ms Corboy said.
"Each year we receive hundreds of amazing nominations. The stories are truly inspiring" she said.
"We hear of these stories because patients, families of patients, colleagues and employers take the time to tell us."
Ms Corboy said anyone is able to nominate someone they feel deserves an award.
Broken Hill Hospital's Acting Deputy Director of Nursing Jan Pearce said there were about 170 nurses working at the hospital.
She said the awards "recognise some of the great work good nurses do." and she encouraged people to nominate.
