Local lads picked for NSW footy squad

Two Broken Hill boys are one step away from playing in the nation's premiere tournament for aspiring AFL footballers - the NAB Under-18 National Championships.
Dylan Stuart and Heath Caldwell have been selected in the 50-player Under 18 NSW/ACT RAMS squad which was announced this week.
They were chosen after their performance at the Joss State Zone Trials in Coffs Harbour in December. Two other locals, Ayden Pettitt and Nic Agius, also attended the trials.
Dylan and Heath will now attend a training camp in Albury on March 4 to 6, from which 25 players will be selected to play at the NAB Nationals later this year.
The Nationals are often used as a springboard by young players to enter the AFL.
Former Carlton vice-captain Nick Stevens will coach the team and said he was looking forward to working with the young talent.
"With players coming from all corners of NSW and the ACT, the squad is a true representation of the number of skillful athletes coming through the Talented Player Program," Mr Stevens said.
He said the camp in March would be a good starting point for players in terms of learning team expectations and setting goals.
"The coaching group will be consistently evaluating and assessing players from inside and outside the squad as the season progresses, in an effort to get the best possible results come Nationals."
