Vandals again target fences
Monday, 9th November, 2009
The front fences of eight private homes were pushed over by vandals on Friday night or early Saturday morning.
The attacks were centred on north Broken Hill with fences in Brazil, Fisher, Radium, McCulloch and McGowan streets targeted between 11.30pm Friday and 8am Saturday.
The attacks are similar to those seen across in the city last year when dozens of fences were toppled. The 2008 attacks reached a peak in July, but ended when police either charged or cautioned a number of juveniles and older teenagers. Police said yesterday they suspected that a new group was responsible for the latest destruction. The vandals are picking their mark, with single brick or concrete block fences the main targets. Police said yesterday that investigations were continuing and any help the public could give would be appreciated.
