A valuable set of tools has been reported stolen from a house in Junction Circle.

Thieves broke into a shed at the house some time between 4.30pm on Friday and 8.30pm on Sunday and made off with the set of spanners and sockets, police said yesterday

Two baseball bats were also stolen, they said.

Police are seeking information from anyone who may be able to help with their investigation of the burglary.

A man who was ejected from a pub and then went straight back in has been fined $550.

The 27-year-old local was asked to leave the hotel in the South by security staff on Sunday night, police said yesterday.

Soon afterwards he was found to have gone back inside and the police were called.

They arrested him and slapped him with an on-the-spot fine for failing to quit licenced premises.

Police are trying to find out how a dozen fire extinguishers ended up out in the bush.

A local resident found the extinguishers on Sunday evening just off the Silverton Road on the outskirts of the city.

The extinguishers were handed in to police who are investigating the matter.
