BE BRAVE AND SHAVE: Blade Crowe, 10, will have his head shaved to raise money for leukaemia research. BE BRAVE AND SHAVE: Blade Crowe, 10, will have his head shaved to raise money for leukaemia research.

Grade six student Blade Crowe is hoping his long locks will raise a heap of cash for the World's Greatest Shave.

Blade will have his hair shaved off next Friday by Sherri Keurschner, who lost her young son Will to leukaemia in 2009.

Ten-year-old Blade is collecting donations from tins which have been placed all across the city.

He told the BDT he hoped to raise close to $1,000.

"I'm doing it because the girl who's shaving me, her son died of cancer," he said, "and my brother shaves his head and he said I could do it too."

The razor and scissors may be an unfamiliar sight for the Alma Public School student who said he has gone almost five months without a trim.

Blade will have his head shaved at his school, Alma.
