Construction of Leasecorp's new shopping complex seems to have hit some rocky ground, but its managing director is confident it will be open by Easter 2012.
Diggers and trucks yesterday broke through a seemingly endless amount of rock as part of the earthworks.

Leasecorp's managing director, Steve Palyga, said the removal of rock was a necessary step prior to the start of work on the foundations.

While there was a degree of uncertainty surrounding the amount of rock, Mr Palyga said he was still aiming for an opening at Easter next year, even after the next stage was pushed back to late April or early May.

Construction work will employ close to 100 people.

Mr Palyga said the shopping centre would include "full-line" Coles and Target stores and Cheap as Chips was still committed to the new centre.

Meanwhile a number of small shopping chains were in negotiations with Leasecorp to fill its 13 speciality store vacancies.
