Intruder assaults woman in her home
Tuesday, 29th March, 2011
A woman was assaulted by one of two men she found in her Sulphide Street home early yesterday morning.
Police said they went to the house at 3.45am after the 21-year-old woman reported that a man was rummaging through the kitchen while another was standing in the lounge room.
When she disturbed them, the man in the kitchen ran out the back door while the other allegedly came up to her and pushed her in the face before leaving.
Police are now seeking help from the public in identifying the culprits.
Meanwhile, electrical items, including a TV, set top box, DVD player, laptop computer and stereo were stolen from a Thomas Street home overnight on Saturday.
Between 9.30pm that night and 9am Sunday thieves smashed a window to gain entry to the house.
Anybody with any information about this matter is urged to contact either the local police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333000.
Police are also investigating a break-in at a Brown Street home. The thieves appeared to have left empty-handed after breaking in some time between 9am and 1.30pm on Sunday.
The resident returned home to find that his front door had been forced and damaged but it appeared that nothing had been stolen, police said.
