Wednesday, 30th March, 2011
When the iconic Indian Pacific rail service rolled into Broken Hill on time yesterday afternoon at 4.30, those passengers who had enjoyed the comforts of the refurbished Red Gum Lounge disembarked with a smile from ear to ear.
And your chance to win a fabulous trip aboard one of the world's great railway services and sample the fine hospitality is fast running out.
In conjunction with Great Southern Rail, the BDT is giving you the chance to win a holiday package valued at over $1000.
Just by correctly filling in the coupon which appears on Page 14 today, you will be in the running to win a return trip for two on the Indian Pacific in Red sleeper comfort from Broken Hill to Adelaide.
One night's accommodation in Adelaide is included in the package, which is on offer to help celebrate the release of new "ReadyRail" fares for Broken Hill residents to travel either to Sydney or Adelaide.
"Our new 'ReadyRail' fares aim to make the Indian Pacific the most economical and enjoyable way for residents of Broken Hill to travel to both their closest capitals in Adelaide and Sydney," Great Southern Rail chief executive Tony Braxton-Smith said.
"The refurbished Red Gum Lounge carriage allows guests travelling in Red service more space to enjoy the ever-changing scenery, socialise and move around whilst on their journey," he added.
BDT Managing Editor John Casey said he was delighted with the response to the competition so far and was looking forward to conducting more competitions for readers in the future.
"We value our readers and the loyalty they have shown to us and the BDT will be running more competitions with great prizes throughout 2011," he said.
"The response to the Indian Pacific competition has been fantastic and we'll keep taking entries until 5pm tomorrow."
