The South Football Club has taken out the 2011 Broken Hill Community Credit Union Visa Debit Pay Wave Lightning Cup.

South finished on top of the table with a superior percentage over the second placed West side, with both sides finishing the round robin competition with two wins and one loss apiece.

North's Jayden Kelly was voted the player of the competition.

The day started with the Magpies up against the Robins and it was the Robins who came out full of intensity.

They looked switched on - you wouldn't think they didn't care about the trophy or the money - the Robins looked very impressive in recording a 19 point win.

The Robins were well served by new recruits Brent Rose and Reuben Hayden while John Blore was also very good.

The Magpies had Mick Anderson, Paul Christie and Justin Heath all in pretty good touch.

West - M. Kickett, B. Malthouse, B. Bright, T. Jovanovich

Central- B. Files, B. Mannion

In game two it was the Bulldogs up against the Roos;. While the contest was hard and at times open, the impressive thing to come out of the game was the form of the south youngsters, those first and second year players have had another year to mature and they will be a handful in 2011.

The contest went down to the wire, with North blowing the perfect opportunity to square the match with only seconds remaining.

For the Roos Michael Westley and Michael Vlatko found plenty of the ball while Simon O'Brien was very good. For North Jayden Kelly, Wes Burton and

Codie Howard all had good games.

South - T.Boland 2, S. OíBrien 1, T. Davidson 1

North - J.Harwood 2, A. Boog 1.

Game three saw South take on the Magpies and right from the outset it was the Roos who set the tone against a depleted Central side.

Tyson Boland was proving a handful up forward, while Schorn, O'Brien and Caldwell were finding plenty of the football.

On a positive note for the Magpies Lachy Jenkin, Sean Power and Josh Camilleri all showed they have bright futures.

In the end the Roos had too much experience and they ran out 71 point winners. Again it was the South young guns leading the way with Boland, Aiden Pettitt and Heath Caldwell all playing well, while the Magpies' Mick Anderson was having a good day with Jenkin and Cox performing well.
