Residents of Aruma Lodge were treated to a visit to Menindee recently to see the lakes now filled with water after so many years.
Activities con-ordinator, Toni Channing, said the 29 residents and volunteers set off last Monday for the day-trip and visited Sunset Strip, the Main Weir, Block Dam, Quandong and Copi Hollow.
"They couldn't believe the water," Ms Channing told the BDT.
"A lot of them remembered about the days they used to go up with their kids."
Aruma Lodge resident, Mavis O'Neill, said she "had a ball."
"Well, the last time I was there it was dry," she said.
"On our trip we saw lots of wildlife like black cockatoos with the red tails.
The trip also brought back memories.
"We'd go up every weekend fishing and just relaxing.
"We really loved it out there
"That's the first one I've been on and I'd go again. I think it's money well spent."
Mrs O'Neill said the residents sang old-time songs on the way to Menindee and enjoyed the drive.
She said another highlight was seeing the yabbies on the side of the road.
