World champion clay shooter Darryn Nicholls has added three more sashes to his growing collection of titles.

Nicholls walked away with the overall high gun title at the Australian Clay Target Association's Trap National Championships that were held in Wagga Wagga from April 2 to 10.

Along with the major win, he was also named double rise and team high gun champion along with being named in a five man team that will travel to New Zealand in March for the World English Sporting Championships.

"I've got as good a chance as anyone (in New Zealand)," said Nicholls, who is a member of the local Gun Club.

Although he was happy with the wins, Nicholls said the best thing wasn't taking home the "hard to get" sashes.

"You can go up against other champions and it gives you experience."

A 30-year veteran of clay shooting, Nicholls last year walked away from the World Down the Line Championships in Cape Town as world champion, and will travel to Wales in 2012 to defend the title.

The talented shooter now has his sights set on competing in national and state titles.
