Man hit by two cars

A man suffered cuts and bruising after he was struck by two cars on Saturday night in a bizarre hit and run incident.
Police said there were a number of witnesses to the incident which happened about 11pm in Chapple Lane.
A police spokesman told the BDT the 44-year-old victim was first struck by a white coloured hatchback with a spoiler and then a second time by what was believed to be a Holden Commodore.
Both cars failed to stop.
The man received multiple cuts, bruising and swelling to his arms, legs and knees, along with a deep laceration to one of his feet. He was taken to the local hospital for treatment.
Police said inquiries are continuing into the incident and want to find the drivers of both cars.
A Menindee woman has been charged after she allegedly attempted to smuggle cannabis into the local jail on Saturday.
Police said the 48-year-old woman, who was visiting a relative, was arrested after a search by prison officers allegedly found 2.9 grams of marijuana.
The woman was charged with possessing a prohibited drug and attempting to introduce a prohibited drug into a detention centre. She was bailed by police and will appear in the Local Court on May 17.
Night Train charge
A 34-year-old man who went to the aid of a complete stranger being arrested by police on Sunday morning, also ended up being charged.
Police arrested a 28-year-old outside the Theatre Royal Hotel about 2am after he allegedly charged an officer. He was charged with assaulting police and resist and arrest.
During the arrest another man intervened, police said. He was also arrested and charged with hindering police, resist arrest, intimidation and disobeying a move on direction.
