Under 18 Round 2
South and Central remain undefeated
Last Wednesday night saw two contrasting games in the U/18 football competition.
Game 1 saw South Take on West in an absolute cracking game with both sides' tackling pressure first class. Every time either side looked to be getting away the other would bounce back in a game that was an early contender for game of the season. The three big guns for South in Marc Purcell, Cody Schorn and Heath Caldwell lead the way and were well supported by Riley Schorn, Ayden Pettit and Carson Banning, who was dangerous around goals all night. The future out West is promising and many a West team of the future will be built around the likes of Heath Harris, Cohen Pettit, Mason Hunt and Luke O'Donnell. The final margin was a hard fought 7-point win to South who are shaping up as flag favourites. That's now two wins on the trot for the Kangaroos and two narrow losses to West who need a win soon.
Final Scores - South 6.7 (43) def West 5.6 (36)
Best Players South - M Purcell, C Schorn, H Caldwell, R Schorn, A Pettit, C Banning. West - H Harris, C Pettit, M Hunt, L O'Donnell, H Grose, R McInnes.
Goal Scorers South - H Caldwell 2, C Banning 2, J Bird 1, L Whitelaw 1. West - C Smith 3, H Teelow 1, C Pettit 1.
Game 2 was in complete contrast to game one as the Magpies dominated from start to finish. Adam Armstrong, Kyle Farcich, Sean Power and Curtis Jelbert racked up possessions at will. Robert Naudi, Ben Schorn and Jordan Vella battled hard to no-avail. As we all know success at this level is cyclical due to how many upper aged players your side has and I'm certain that if this young group of Bulldogs stick together their turn will come for success in the near future. Next week will give as a clear indication of who is going to be flag favourites as the two undefeated sides in South and Central go into battle.
Final Scores - Central 10.15 (75) def North 0.2 (2)
Best Players Central - A Armstrong, K Farcich, S Power, C Jelbert, R Pearce. North - R Naudi, B Schorn, J Vella, R Lehman, A Dorman, J Sheargold.
Goal Scorers Central - T Andrews 3, C Turner 2, A Armstrong 2 others not supplied. North - nil.
