The competition got underway on Saturday night with the Nine Mile creek run which saw several competitors' vehicles catching fire after being pushed to the limit by their drivers.

The teams put on a great display of racing despite the incendiary setbacks, with competitors finishing the course in times ranging from five minutes to nine minutes. Only two teams failed to finish.

The creek run was followed on Sunday by the gruelling Prologue stage where teams tackled obstacles and hazards at the racecourse to determine starting positions for yesterday's stages at Avondale Station and Red Hill.

Competitors will now move on to Mt Gipps Station for today's trials which will include a creek run, sand wall and winch obstacles.
